UpwithCupcakes.com launches Cupcakes and Politics apparel line and releases limited edition inauguration t-shirts

BALTIMORE, MD, January 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Up with Cupcakes apparel brand announced today the release of its signature political cupcake t-shirts. On the eve of the presidential inauguration, the company's launch of their Cupcakes & Politics line releases the collectors' edition "The Two Hottest Things in America: Cupcakes & Obama" t-shirt.

Inspired by her passion for both cupcakes and politics, the original idea for the t-shirts was developed by Sandy Long, owner of Charm City Cupcakes, of Baltimore, Maryland. "These are the two things at the center of my life: cupcakes and politics. Almost everything I read today is about the love of cupcakes or the love for Obama."

The limited edition t-shirt features a highway sign with the words "The Two Hottest Things in America" on the front; the back has an image of a cupcake and an Obama-like campaign symbol. "We created this series as a way for our customers to participate in-and celebrate-the 2009 inauguration 'cupcake style," said Amy Sandbourne, a spokesperson for Up with Cupcakes. "We anticipate that the t-shirt will be one of the store's best sellers."

"The Two Hottest Things in America" t-shirt joins "Friends Let Friends Eat Cupcakes" and "Will Work for Cupcakes," which are two of the store's best-selling items. Building on the brand's core philosophy of creating individual style with a passion for cupcakes, Ms. Sandbourne said that the Cupcakes & Politics Campaign features taglines centered around politics: "Join the Cupcake Revolution," "Cupcakes for President," and "Cupcakes for Change"-all popular styles.

Beginning today, consumers can purchase the inauguration limited edition t-shirts online at http://www.upwithcupcakes.com. In addition, the t-shirts will be carried in select cupcake stores throughout the United States, including Charm City Cupcakes in Baltimore. The t-shirts are available in white, 100 percent cotton, both short-sleeve ($17.95) and long-sleeve ($21.95).
