Ingalls Shipbuilding set to hire hundreds of workers

Ingalls Shipbuilding, one of the largest employers on the Gulf Coast, is preparing to hire 500 new employees.

The Pascagoula shipyard will host a job fair Saturday, Aug. 4, to fill several openings, including test engineers, welders, pipefitters,and shipfitters.

"We are ramping up production on numerous ships under contract or construction," said the shipyard's vice president of operations, George Jones in a video. "Working at Ingalls isn't just a job. It's your chance to serve our nation with your unique skills in some of the most challenging work you'll ever do."

Officials will do on-site interviews at the Haley Barbour Maritime Training Academy, located at 1000 Jerry St. Pe Hwy. in Pascagoula, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interviews and selections will be made on the spot to qualified candidates. However, all applicants must pre-apply on Ingalls' website before the job fair to be considered.
