Study eyed on allowing sale of Ethiopian products in co-ops

KUWAIT CITY, May 26: The Ministry of Social Affairs has formed a joint committee with Ethiopia to study all aspects of exchange and cooperation between Kuwait and the latter to pave way for the signing of a cooperation protocol to allow the sale of Ethiopian products in cooperative societies throughout the country, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony for the Second Family Competition organized by the Foundation for Excellence with the support of Issa Al-Othman Endowment and Undersecretary of the ministry Abdulaziz Al-Shuaib, the undersecretary confirmed that the ministry will coordinate with cooperative societies and the Consumer Cooperative Societies Union to benefit from Ethiopian products and to work with charities in the implementation of projects in Ethiopia.

He disclosed the recent meeting with the visiting Ethiopian delegation tackled various fields of cooperation between the two countries, and ways to benefit from Ethiopia’s experience in the labor market in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower.

On the other hand, Al-Shuaib affirmed that 90 percent of government agencies have linked their automated systems with the ministry. He said the project is now in its third stage and there have been no obstacles or problems so far. He added work is underway to complete the automated link with all of the ministry’s sectors and departments
