Wakefern Supermarkets will be hosting a job fair on Saturday, April 27 for those seeking career opportunities in their supermarkets. They work under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage, and Fairway Market banners.
Wakefern grew from a small cooperative with eight grocery store owners to the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States. The cooperative was founded in 1946 and now includes over 50 families who now independently own over 100 supermarkets in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
The job fairs will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at store locations throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland. Candidates can visit most participating stores to speak with a hiring representative for an on-the-spot interview and may be offered full-time, part-time, and management positions, depending on the location.
Various positions such as general, perishable, front-end, and stocking clerks offer flexible hours and cross-training to provide employees with the knowledge, skills, and tools to work as a team throughout the store.
Training programs include game-based training apps that are designed to provide a solid foundation so each individual can achieve and pursue career goals. Each job offer provides opportunities to employees for career growth and plays a part in the operation of the entire Wakefern cooperative and its retail banners and stores.
Benefits that may be offered to employees include entertainment and tuition discounts, and scholarship opportunities in the family-owned supermarkets.
