Water Management for California Oil & Gas

California’s rich tight oil reservoirs are estimated to hold approximately 15.4 billion barrels of recoverable oil, leading to a land rush late last year in which nearly 18,000 acres of leases were snapped up in the Monterey Shale basin alone. However, while the potential reserves are too substantial to be left in the ground, only those producers who manage to handle California’s unique water challenges will maximize their return on investment.

Conventional and unconventional oil and gas exploration has caused major environmental resistance, particularly given the hundreds of thousands of gallons that are required for each well during the hydraulic fracturing process. Both methods experience issues, principally in areas with heavy industrial or agricultural use where water shortages are feared. As a result, operators must apply optimal water management techniques while remaining compliant with the full range of broad based California environmental and water quality regulations. Only those who have mastered both the full range of water management practices and the evolving California regulatory environment will achieve the full potential of their wells.

Infocast has organized the Water Management for California Oil & Gas meeting to provide up-to-date information operators will need to support production efforts in the Monterey, San Joaquin, LA and Santa Maria basins. Join E&Ps, field services, water technology providers, engineers, consultants, financiers and government officials to learn the economics of good water management systems and gain the tools you need to incorporate innovative technologies into your operation to unlock the tremendous amount of undeveloped potential in the California’s unconventional and conventional resources.
