Cyber Essentials certification is now mandatory for any company wanting to bid for UK Government contract. This training will help you gain the knowledge you need for certification in an efficient manner.

Consisting of two 1-day modules, the course will take you through the key elements of the Cyber Essentials scheme, including the Five Security Controls, which together prevent around 80% of cyber-attacks.

The course will also help you prepare for the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) before it comes into force in May 2018.

Module 1: aimed at senior managers

Course content:

• Understanding the security threat landscape
• Background to the Cyber Essentials (CE) scheme
• Understanding and defining the assessment scope
• Recommended risk methodologies and treatments
• Applying the five key controls
• The process – certification options for CE and CE Plus
• MOD’s DCPP cyber security model requirements
• How CE contributes as part of continuous monitoring and control

Module 2: aimed at IT managers

Course content:

• Background to the CE scheme
• Understanding and defining the assessment scope
• Commonly used tools – what they are good at
• Common reasons for unsuccessful certification
• The external vulnerability scan
• The internal vulnerability scan
• Email binaries and payloads
• How CE contributes as part of continuous monitoring and control
