The Wristlets will be gifted to celebrities attending The Artisan Group exhibit at GBK’s Luxury Gift Lounge in Honor of the 2014 MTV Movie Awards Nominees & Presenters, taking place April 11-12, 2014 at an exclusive location in Beverly Hills, California.
Each Phone Wristlet is handcrafted from three layers of felted wool sweaters for durability and protection, and is designed to fit most cellphones, smartphones and iPhones, with an opening of approximately 3-1/4” wide x 5-1/2” tall. The wristlet also includes an extra pocket for an ID, money, keys, or even a granola bar. The pouch closes with a sturdy silver-finish brass snap. The hemp wrist strap is soft to the touch and comfortable on the skin.
Lucy Chapman, owner/designer at Rosy Toes Designs, says she chose the Phone Wristlets to gift because they are not only fun and stylish, but one-of-a-kind pieces of functional art. “I love working with reclaimed sweaters. One of my favorite parts of the creative process is going in search of the materials. Each sweater is a little different in terms of stitch, pattern and color so each piece is unique.”

Lucy is a fiber artist and designer and has been creating handcrafted wool items, from beanies, hats and wrist warmers to small tech accessories and bags, since 2009. Some of her most popular items are her luxury felted messenger bags, laptop bags and cross-body bags. Incorporating only the highest quality materials and fiber, they showcase needle felted details and have heavy-duty cotton duck or upholstery fabric lining.
The bags are designed to last ten or more years and mechanical and structural parts such as buckles, strapping and linings can be replaced when they wear out. “I will gladly give much loved and used Rosy Toes bags a ‘facelift’ as needed,” smiled Lucy. “With proper care, these bags can last a lifetime.”
Lucy is inspired by walks in the woods and the fibers, fabrics and ribbons she works with every day, as well her customers’ requirements. “My customers sometimes have a specific need and so we brainstorm to come up with a solution.”
For spring/summer 2014, Lucy is working on a line of hand-felted accessories, including small zippered pouches, clutches and wristlets in bright colors like fuchsia, spring green, sunflower and lemon yellow, which will be embellished with various needle felted items such as butterflies, various flowers, a sunburst, owls, dots and musical themes.
