Infection with Herpes Can Lead to Deafness; The CBCD Reviews a Study

Infection in the ear follows contact of mucous membranes or broken skin surfaces with infected fluids from herpes sores or with other body fluids. (1)

Deafness may be “complete or partial depending on the virulence of the infection.

“Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends taking Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

If the herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2) infects the inner ear following contact with infected body fluids (such as through touching a herpes sore and then accidentally touching the ear, etc.) an individual could lose his or her hearing. Deafness may be “complete or partial depending on the virulence of the infection.” (2) Many of these cases, “are associated with herpes simplex meningitis or encephalitis. Hearing loss in this setting is bilateral and severe.” (1) In all of these cases, antiviral treatment is required. “Treatment of hearing loss associated with HSV1 or HSV2 infections includes treatment with antiherpetic agents ….” (1)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals concerned about the possible effects of a herpes infection take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to reduce HSV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. Additionally, the formula was designed to help the immune system target the latent form of the herpes virus.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. The studies showed that the formula is effective against the herpes simplex virus, and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HSV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3)

Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites, here:

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.

To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims. Note: Novirin has the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. However, it contains higher quality and more expensive ingredients.

It is interesting to note that according to the journal Laryngoscope, herpes was involved in 70% of cases of viral infections that led to hearing loss. (4) “Herpes is a fairly common virus whose different strains cause everything from chicken pox to mono. In fact, scientists have identified eight kinds so far, and chances are you’ve had at least a few of them in your lifetime. In addition to the aforementioned cold sores, chicken pox, and mono, herpes is behind genital herpes, roseola, (hearing loss), and has been linked to certain kinds of cancers.” (5)

Until now, drugs approved for the treatment of HSV infections include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, “a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (3) Unlike drugs or vaccines, which target the active herpes virus, there are two natural remedies that target the latent HSV. These clinically backed remedies are Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR.

The CBCD reminds the public that Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are not a cure. However, two clinical studies, published in peer reviewed medical journals showed that their formula decreases symptoms in infected individuals. Specifically, the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was shown to safely and effectively reduce herpes symptoms. Additionally, it was designed to help the immune system target the latent virus.

“We recommend that individuals who may be concerned about hearing loss due to a herpes virus infection take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR, which are designed to help the immune system target the latent herpes virus.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD
