The CASCADES recognize outstanding achievement by both individuals and organizations Canada-wide.

Individual Awards

Bryan Tisdall, President & CEO of Science World British Columbia, located in Vancouver BC, received the Outstanding Career Achievement Award for his significant contributions to the Science Centre industry over the past 20 years.

George Jacob, President and CEO of the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum, located in Grande Prairie, AB, received the Outstanding Project or Program Leadership Award for the construction and launch of the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in 2015.

“Science for Seniors” at Entomica was awarded Best Program – Small Institution for engaging senior citizens with hands-on interactions with spectacular insects from all over the world. Other nominees in this category are London Children’s Museum’s “In-Class Outdoor Education Program”, and Churchill Northern Studies Centre’s “Marine Education Program.”

“Future Science Leaders” program at Science World British Columbia was awarded Best Program – Large Institution for helping students further develop the talent, drive and discipline needed to excel in science and technology. The CASCADE Awards program is part of the final gala evening to culminate the two-day conference for Science Centre professionals. Other events in the program included keynote speakers Dr. Mario Pinto (NSERC) and Dr. Richard Louv, several sessions designed to provide professional development opportunities to staff and volunteers that make up the workforce of Canada’s Science Centres. The conference provides an incredible opportunity for Science Centres to share best-practices, develop partnerships and learn from each other.

The 15th Annual CASC Conference will take place at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto May 4 – 6, 2017.
