VR technology helps drivers see their “Fuel on its Way” at Gazprom Neft’s filling stations

Under a project being rolled out from flagship sites in Moscow, St Petersburg and Ekaterinburg, virtual reality (VR) technology is enabling visitors to Gazprom Neft’s filling stations to see the full process of how their fuel is produced and transported, as well as gaining insights into the workings of filling stations themselves.

With the help of VR-glasses, visitors to the Gazprom Neft filling station network will be able to see all of the technologies and logistics involved in producing gasoline and diesel fuel, from refinery to tank, as well as being given the chance to assess the full capabilities of the Gazprom Neft continuous fuel quality system. The star of the film — actor Kamil Larin — takes viewers on a five-minute virtual tour of key Gazprom Neft infrastructure facilities: a refinery, an oil depot, laboratories, and the underground filling station distribution network. Viewers will find themselves taken to Russia’s biggest oil refinery — the Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery, and to a 2,000-tonne storage-capacity oil depot, as well as finding themselves in the cabin of a cutting-edge multi-section gasoline tanker, and being shown the full fuel distribution system, from oil storage facility to filling station.

Alexander Krylov, Director of the Gazprom Neft Retail Sales Network, commented: “VR technologies are reaching ever deeper into various areas of activity. In aligning the business on the basis of the client first, we are utilising these as an opportunity not just to show the processes of producing and selling fuels visually, but also to introduce consumers to new technologies.”

Motorists in Moscow, St Petersburg and Ekaterinburg will be able to see the film first, with residents in other regions throughout Russia able to see the film from next year.
