Internationally acclaimed TED speaker ,Start Up mentor ,Smart City Consultant Dr Jawahar Surisetti felicitated for his contribution to Social Education

Noted educationist and psychologist Dr Jawahar Surisetti was honored by the Lions International with the coveted Chiranjilal Dhanuka Service Award 2018 for the yeoman service rendered in the field of social education. He was felicitated with one lakh rupees, a shawl and a citation presented by esteemed members of the Lions International at Hotel Crowne Plaza at Delhi on 5th August.

In a grand gala event, this honor was bestowed on Dr Jawahar for his service in the education of the downtrodden in Mofussil areas. Speaking on this occasion, he said that we should consider service to society not as a burden but as gratitude for what we are today. He said that in his experiences in the inaccessible areas of Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Jharkhand, he had witnessed that the areas where help and assistance in Education and awareness is required, social service does not reach because we concentrate on urban and easily accessible areas rather than the need. He said that we should all become Robin Hood and earn for ourselves but give back to the society too.

He said that if you have the will there will be a way. He cited his experience of Kashmir during strife when the school roofs had holes and children were not going to school. His idea of collaborating with Mahindra and Videocon and running a Mobile school in buses along with local literate youth had grabbed the attention of the United Nations. He expressed satisfaction with the thought process of the current youth of the world towards giving back to society and exhorted leaders to use this positive energy to take the society ahead.
