Alabama recruiting snapshot: Wide receivers

The evaluation period for college coaches to hit the road and scout prospects ends later this month just as college camps are about to get underway.

Let's take a look at what's going on at the receiver position for Alabama.

Any commitments?

Hollywood, Fla., four-star Xavier Williams pledged to the Crimson Tide in January. He is the No. 80 overall recruit.

Spring update

Alabama has watched several receivers. The top target is Central-Phenix City standout Justyn Ross. His mother has returned now from overseas in the U.S. National Guard and he should have a top five by the end of the summer.

Alabama has turned up the heat on local standout Seth Williams from Paul Bryant.

Jacob Copeland of Pensacola has gone from nearly dropping the Crimson Tide in late March to riding shotgun with Nick Saban prior to A-Day.

Other top targets Alabama likes with mutual interest include Snellville, Ga., four-star Matthew Hill, Bradenton, Fla., four-star Joshua Moore, four-star Bellaire, Texas slot Jaylen Waddle. Others will show out from June 4-6 at camp and have the heat turned up.

Bottom line

Of around 10 guys Alabama seems to be seriously looking at, watch for three to sign. Maybe four if one is an athlete who could end up on defense. It will be a disappointment if Alabama can't land Ross, though, but the Crimson Tide will get some good ones.
