Czech Republic raffles off cell phones to increase vaccination rates

Prague, Jul 12 (EFE).- The Czech Republic on Monday raffled off cell phones, sports shoes and video games in an attempt to boost its Covid-19 vaccination drive after opening two centers in Prague where people can get vaccinated without being registered.

The opening of the centers in the capital comes as the country’s ministry of health published data showing falling public interest in receiving the jab, making it difficult for the government to inoculate at least 70% of the population required to reach herd immunity.

People who got vaccinated at these two centers received a coupon to participate in a weekly raffle to win prizes.

Long lines formed at one of the new centers with many senior citizens complaining they had not been able to register online.

On July 1, children between 12 and 15 years old started getting vaccinated in the Czech Republic to facilitate their return to school on September 1. EFE
