Date: 11-Apr-18 to 11-Apr-18
Location: Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre / Singapore / Singapore
Category: Energy Environment Conferences & Trade Fairs

InterMET Asia 2018, Suntec, Singapore, is a unique marketplace bringing together the global weather and climate industry with those in the public and private sectors seeking to mitigate and manage the risks of extreme weather and climate change, and to understand the opportunities.

Now in its 5th successful year, it is focused on Asia, Africa and the Pacific Island regions. In 2017, companies and decision makers attended from some 44 countries.

As well as Special Sessions on Public-Private Sector co-operation sponsored by the World Bank and the GFDRR, the show will feature a paid-for conference, free to attend trade exhibition, and a series of free workshops.

The show's co-operation framework comprises the World Bank, and The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), a global partnership that helps developing countries better understand and reduce their vulnerabilities to natural hazards and adapt to climate change.

Working with over 400 local, national, regional, and international partners, GFDRR provides grant financing, technical assistance, training and knowledge sharing activities to mainstream disaster and climate risk management in policies and strategies. Managed by the World Bank, GFDRR is supported by 37 countries and 11 international organizations.

The Official Welcome to InterMET Asia will be provided by Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organisation. The WMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is the UN system's authoritative voice on the state and behaviour of the Earth's atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of water resources.
