12th annual Paediatric Clinical Trials

Date: 19-Mar-18 to 20-Mar-18
Location: London / United Kingdom
Clinical trials in paediatric populations still pose several challenges and often many studies remain un- published. 10 years on from the introduction of EU Paediatric Investigation Plans (PIPs) there are still many lessons to be learned about the planning and execution of trials which should be tailored around the needs of children. Recent advancements in immuno-oncology research has led to an increase in clinical trials to treat cancer in children and adolescents. Greater emphasis has also been placed on pain-free administration of drugs in the bid to increase vaccination uptake and access to medicines. Join us as we discuss current clinical trials and the innovative digital technology being used to improve clinical recruitment and retention as well as improve the quality of data ...

CRU Metals in the Future 2018

Date: 19-Mar-18 to 20-Mar-18
Location: London / United Kingdom
Metals in the Future 2018 is a new conference to be held in London, March 2018. It will explore the long-term impact of green technology on metals supply and demand. It examines a broad spectrum of materials, including steel, aluminium, base metals, minor metals and ferroalloys. Understanding materials flows and successfully predicting long-term demand has always been central to maintaining a leadership position in the metals and mining sector. However, as the world strives to meet climate change targets, the complexity of accurately forecasting future resource requirements is increased, in large part due to the challenge of successfully predicting which green technologies will prove most successful. The stakes are also raised financially by the green economy’s step up in metals ...

Topological States in Strongly Interacting Light-Matter Systems

Date: 19-Mar-18 to 20-Mar-18
Location: United Kingdom
In recent years separate research communities of condensed matter physics, working on solid-state systems with a strong element of light-matter interaction, have made progress towards realising topological states. Semiconductor microcavities are semiconductor hetero-structures in which optical modes coherently mix with quantum well excitons forming polaritons. These interacting bosonic particles have been shown to undergo condensation, superfluidity, and rich hydrodynamics. Superconducting circuits are highly coherent cryogenic Josephson junction based quantum circuits, which support both spin and bosonic excitations. In both systems there is a demonstrated capability to create one and two dimensional lattices and therefore there is a promise for realising quantum simulation of interacting ...
