Additive Manufacturing Benchmarks 2018 (AM-Bench 2018)

Date: 18-Jun-18 to 21-Jun-18
Location: United States
Additive Manufacturing Benchmarks 2018 (AM-Bench 2018) is the first in a series of events focused on validating and improving the accuracy of model predictions and developing universally accepted quantitative measurement approaches for all additive manufacturing (AM) materials and methods. By addressing a critical barrier to widespread adoption of AM solutions, the AM-Bench measurements and associated conference series will make a significant impact on the global additive manufacturing community. AM researchers, practitioners, end-users, modelers, and vendors are invited to contribute to the outcomes of AM-Bench 2018 by presenting their latest work as part of the AM-Bench 2018 Benchmark Measurement and Modeling Symposium, participating in the AM-Bench 2018 benchmark challenges, or ...

Chemical Development & Scale-Up, Vienna, Austria

Date: 19-Jun-18 to 21-Jun-18
Location: Vienna / Austria
Chemical process development is generally not taught as part of degree courses in higher education; the conversion of a synthetic route used for making milligram or gram quantities of a chemical into a process for manufacturing multi-kilogram and tonne quantities is typically learnt “on the job” by chemists in industry. For many years, little chemical development work was published in the literature, until the establishment of the Organic Process R & D journal by Dr Trevor Laird (Founder of Scientific Update). Even now, “tricks of the trade” are handed down within individual company organisations, and it can be difficult to gain an awareness of what is involved in chemical development, and of the skills and techniques required to efficiently scale up chemical processes. This three-...

Practical Approaches to Quality by Design (QbD), Chicago, USA

Date: 19-Jun-18 to 21-Jun-18
Location: Chicago / United States
QbD is no longer a regulatory initiative; because QbD is good development, QbD is an industry initiative supported by regulators. This course focuses on practical approaches to accelerated QbD implementation, and it makes practical recommendations for realistic implementation of QbD elements. Participants will learn how to prioritize process parameters for screening designs, how to design robust processes using statistical design of experiments (DoE), how to bridge the bench and the commercial design spaces using mixing and scale-up calculations, how to quantify process risk, how to select suitable process analytical technology tools (PAT) and more. Effective technology transfer to pilot and manufacturing plants is also discussed, including process validation in the QbD.
