An estimated 37 million patients are affected by thrombotic disorders each year. This number will continue to rise with the increase in our aging population. This conference will focus on clinically applicable and cutting-edge methods used in the evaluation and treatment of patients with arterial and venous thrombotic disorders. Issues unique to novel anticoagulants, for example, variables in dosing (including high-risk patients), measurement, and reversal will be discussed. The laboratory evaluation of patients with congenital and acquired thrombotic disorders will be reviewed. Lectures and case studies will be presented by a multidisciplinary Mayo Clinic faculty with ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss difficult diagnostic or management issues. For the 9th year, City and County Firefighters join forces for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation in this annual event that raises funds to grant wishes for children in Kern County battling critical illnesses. A “drive-thru” deep pit sandwich lunch for $7.00 will be offered from 11:00am-1:30pm. Additional donation locations will be at the following intersections: At Olive and Knudsen Drives, firefighters from the Bakersfield Fire Department At Stockdale Hwy & Gosford Road, firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department Both fire departments have been key partners in the event since its inception in 2010, Since then, the event has raised over $525,000 for Make-A-Wish. Every dollar raised has gone directly to granting wishes to critically-ill children in Kern County.
