Luanda, ANGOLA, April 26 - National Assembly speaker Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos Thursday in Luanda considered crucial for the State to promote democratic values and strengthening institutions to ensure freedoms. ,

"One can not speak of peace unless the State-owned institutions ensure protection and security for the most unprotected. You can not speak of justice if it protects only the strongest, "said the Parliament leader.

Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos was speaking at the opening ceremony of the" Culture of Peace " promoted by  Parliamentary Women Group.

The official  added that the culture of peace can not be disseminated if the people who are the recipient of this message are not at peace.

He  noted that one of the great challenges of the Angolan State is the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities.

The Speaker recalled that the peace process, started in 2002 with the silencing of guns and reconciliation, was  fundamental step towards the beginning of a more intense and complex process of social pacification.

As a movement, the Culture of Peace was officially launched in 1999 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
