Parliament promises gender-friendly Budget
This was said by the Speaker while addressing at the opening session of the workshop on the Experimentation of a Gender-Sensitive Surveillance Model sponsored by the National Assembly's Women's Parliamentary Group, in an event set for 21 -23 May, 2018.
The National Assembly Speaker expressed his sensitivity to gender equality issues and decided to embrace the "He for She Campaign".
It is an international movement created on 20 September 2014 during the 69th session of the UN General Assembly by the UN Executive Director Women, Phumzile Mlbambo-
Ngcuka, United Nations entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women.
The movement represents a global effort to engage girls and women in removing social and cultural barriers that prevent women from reaching their potential.
The top national assembly official promised his personal commitment in the fight for gender equality through practical applications, taking into account their cross-cutting impact on
women's policies and lives.
The Speaker of SADC Parliament has also argued that a commitment to all means that can contribute to a better social, economic and political integration of women is an imperative
for all states, with a view to contributing to peace, humanity and prosperity of States.
The workshop is being attended by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) parliamentarian women.
