RI International Hosts Open House in Durham NC, Revealing It’s Integrated Campus of Connection

DURHAM, NC, USA, July 1, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ -- RI International's Durham Recovery Response Center opened its door three years ago to serve the community of Durham. The services of the site are funded by Alliance Health and Durham County as part of its network of providers for mental health and substance use services. The Durham Recovery Response Center’s Campus of Connection recently enhanced its facilities with new, integrated programs that will be revealed during the upcoming Open House. Captain Helen Tripp, Community Paramedics and Peer Support Coordinator for Durham County EMS, says EMS is glad to work with the center and its unique programming. “It allows behavioral health patients to get the help they need sooner and more effectively.”

The July 10th open house is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.at the center, which is located at 309 Crutchfield Street, and will include remarks from RI International’s CEO and president, David Covington, as well as Alliance Health and community representatives who will discuss the comprehensive programming. Among the campus additions are Peer Navigation and Peer Bridger Services. The Peer Navigator Program is peer-led and has three primary entry points to respond to people in crisis: through the hospital, first responders, and walk-ins. Peer navigation connects and supports people throughout Medicated-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and up to 90 days after discharge, while Peer Bridger Services connects Living Room guests to community resources; both provide transportation.

Laylon Williams, Criminal Justice Specialist at Alliance Health, says the behavioral health campus has enhanced law enforcement’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) partnership with the community, helping better serve people who experience a crisis. “Our Durham CIT Partnership is ecstatic about the work RI International has done through the Durham Recovery Response Center in its brief time providing services to our residents. The Retreat and Recovery Model is what people in crisis need and allows them to be linked to critical ongoing community services to remain well.” Charles Browning, M.D., RI International’s Chief Medical Officer, echoes Williams’ sentiments on community partnership and says the company’s mission is to provide a fusion of crisis case access for Durham with “an environment and level of service you would want for your family member.” Dr. Browning, who was raised in Durham and now resides in Wake county, says, “It's a special feeling to be a part of a great team working on this ideal in my hometown of Durham."
