New Law Will Stop FDA Regulations that Hinder Americans ...

...from Finding Proven Documented Natural Solutions to Treating Illnesses

/EINPresswire.com/ SEPTEMBER 8, 2011  /PRAvenueNW/ -- It's no secret that a battle has been raging for many years between the worlds of natural remedies for good health and traditional medicine...and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is usually caught somewhere in the middle. A new law that's now being considered, however, may end this battle for some farmers, natural supplement and food sellers, and food manufacturers in the U.S.

A non-profit organization called WinTheFightAgainstCancerNATURALLY.org is dedicated to educating people about natural methods to fight cancer and is encouraging widespread support for the new Free Speech about Science Act (HR 1364). This is a new legislative bill that restores Americans' right to be informed of natural health care options.

While many people do correlate eating nutritious foods with being healthy, many don't realize the overwhelming nutritious and disease-fighting benefits of many natural foods. Unfortunately, current FDA regulations prohibit food manufacturers, farmers, etc. from sharing the health benefits of their foods on labels and in advertisements. Why? Because in order to do so, the food would need to be "reclassified" by the FDA as an unapproved drug, thus slapping the food producers with high fines and a possible shut-down of their business. That's why WinTheFightAgainstCancerNATURALLY.org is urging U.S. citizens to take action and support this bill as it moves through the channels for consideration.

Numerous peer-reviewed studies from reputable institutions, such as Harvard and Stanford Universities, have reported that changes in diet could reduce both heart disease and cancer by as much as 90 percent (Archives of Internal Medicine, Oct 22, 2007; 167(19): 2122-7). There is also strong evidence that specific nutrients exist that may be used to prevent, reverse or (in therapeutic doses) cure disease. Unfortunately, Americans do not hear about this research.

Here's an example regarding cherries: Harvard research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine suggested that cherries could reduce heart attack risk (Ann Inter Med, 1996, Sept 1: 125 (5): 384-9). A large number of additional studies published in prestigious journals have agreed with these findings and also report that cherries can reduce pain and cancer. But the FDA says that cherry producers, sellers and food manufacturers are forbidden from talking about this research.

In February 2008, the FDA even obtained a court order to silence 29 cherry orchards. The FDA held that any discussion of the health benefits of cherries automatically turned cherries into "unapproved" drugs. Moreover, the Agency says that any claim made for an unapproved drug is by definition false and legally actionable, even if the claim originates at the Harvard Medical School. This is just one of the many examples of how the FDA and its laws prevent the public from hearing about valid scientific research concerning natural health products that can have a positive affect on disease.

The Free Speech about Science Act (HR 1364) has the potential to transform medical practice in America by educating the public about the science behind achieving and maintaining health naturally, and by allowing companies who sell natural health products to openly share peer-reviewed scientific findings that can help people make informed decisions regarding their health needs.

WintheFightAgainstCancerNaturally.org has made it easy for Americans to "Make Their Voice Heard!" regarding HR 1364, and it will only takes two minutes to do so.

Millions are suffering and dying needlessly due to lack of knowledge, limited health care options and the suppression of scientifically-proven information regarding natural methods of treating illness.
